How market value is calculated
Three numbers get confused constantly in collecting. Keeping them apart is the whole point of this platform.
Asking price
What a seller wants today. Aspirational — unsold listings prove nothing.
Sold price
What a buyer actually paid. The strongest evidence of value.
Market value
Our estimate of what the item should trade for right now.
The formula
- 1. Collect recent sales. Only sales from the last 90 days count.
- 2. Normalise every sale. Shipping is added in, then the price is adjusted to new-condition terms using the condition multipliers below.
- 3. Remove outliers. Anything more than 2× away from the median is dropped — bot listings, bundle mistakes and friend-price sales.
- 4. Weight the signals. Median sold 60%, average sold 25%, average asking 15%.
- 5. Score confidence. Confidence rises with sample size and reaches full strength at 25 sales.

About the current data
Sold prices are the five most recent comparable eBay sales for each item, entered and checked by our team several times a day. Active asking prices come from eBay's listing feed. When automated sold-data access lands, the same calculation runs on it and nothing about the interface changes.
